Quintessa is comprised of a total of 280 acres of which 170 acres are planted to the classic Bordeaux grape varieties in 26 vineyard blocks as follows: Cabernet Sauvignon (129 acres), Merlot (26 acres), Cabernet Franc (7 acres), Petit Verdot (4 acres), and Carmenere (4 acres). The estate includes a valley, a lake, a river; five hills, four microclimates, and many soil types, as well as rich flora and fauna. The diversity of exposure, elevation, and microclimate and soil type produces 40 very different wines lots from the 26 different vineyard blocks. We believe the diversity of the property (Valleys, Terraces, Hilltops, Foothills and Riverside) contribute to the high quality and uniqueness of the fruit.
\"Starting with a clean slate allowed us to take advantage of a wealth of knowledge accumulated in the Napa Valley over 25 years of viticulture. Terrace design, soil preparation, density of planting, trellis systems and selection of appropriate rootstock and clones were just some of the aspects of vineyard innovation we applied in each specific soil type and microclimate./nThe most important lesson in diversity learned at Quintessa is the need to keep the soil alive with a variety of plant life. Pests are managed through the use of organic materials, cover crops and other innovative practices, and only when required. From it\'s very inception, the vineyard has been maintained with a strict criteria of care for the soil and the environment. It is a very special feeling to know that at Quintessa, there was never any other kind of grape growing.\"/nValeria Huneeus

Grammy-winning Cellist Sara Sant\'Ambrogio and celebrated winemaker Elizabeth Vianna are announcing plans for a joint launch of their latest artistic endeavors—a new CD, Bach Suites for Solo Cello for Ms. Sant\'Ambrogio and the 2007 vintage of Chimney Rock Elevage Blanc wine for Ms. Vianna. “There is a parallel artistry between music and wine, so it made natural sense to launch these new endeavors together,” said Ms. Vianna. \"Including both makes a perfect evening.\"
